Digital Course Reserves Accessibility Assistant (Temporary), Widener Library (Cambridge)

**This is a 90-day Temporary position**

Harvard Library is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Digital Course Reserves Accessibility Assistant to join our team for a 90-day temporary position. This position will report directly to the Digital Reserves Manager & Strategist. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting digital accessibility by assisting with the remediation of PDFs for course reserves and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards. The Digital Course Reserves Accessibility Assistant will also work closely with the Digital Course Reserves Manager & Strategist in supervising student employees, helping improve workflows, and providing assistance to permanent staff members.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Assist with the remediation of PDFs to ensure compliance with digital accessibility standards, guidelines, and best practices.

Collaborate with library staff and instructors to identify and prioritize content requiring remediation.

Assist the Digital Course Reserves Accessibility Specialist in managing, training, and supervising student employees working on digital accessibility projects.

Contribute to the development and implementation of improved workflows for digital accessibility under the guidance of the Digital Accessibility Specialist.

Stay informed about the latest digital accessibility tools, trends, and best practices.

Assist with monitoring and reporting on the progress of workflows.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Hours:

35 hours per week

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma.

Familiarity with accessibility tools and software, such as Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Additional Requirements: 

Experience assisting persons with print disabilities.

Familiarity with accessibility standards, such as WCAG 2.1, and relevant laws and regulations.

Experience working with Learning Management Systems, preferably Canvas, is a plus.

Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Prior experience in a support or assistant role is preferred.
