Job Summary

The Science & Engineering Libraries are seeking a Science & Engineering Diversity Resident Librarian, a position that is part of the Diversity Resident Librarian Program established in 2013. This program provides an opportunity for entry-level librarians from diverse backgrounds to begin their professional careers and develop skills and experience in academic librarianship. As members of the ACRL Diversity Alliance, we are committed to “increasing the hiring pipeline of qualified and talented individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.” (ACRL Diversity Alliance Website). This is a three-year placement designed to encourage and promote professional growth and development of recent graduates.

The Science & Engineering Diversity Resident Librarian joins a collegial team of librarians that engages with the research, teaching, and learning of UW-Madison’s science and engineering community. Mentorship and collaboration with colleagues will provide a robust structure for professional growth and contributions. As a member of the Agriculture, Geoscience, & Environmental Science Team, the Resident Librarian will take a collaborative approach to building relationships with faculty, staff, and students to develop and provide reference, research, and instruction services. They will participate in scholarly communications and research data management initiatives and build experience in those areas. Reporting to the Science & Engineering Libraries Research Services Manager, this resident librarian will have opportunities to participate in UW-Madison Libraries-wide committees to help shape future policies and services.
