We encourage you to apply for our adult programming and outreach coordinator position at the Whipple Free Library. We are looking for someone innovative, who can work well with our current team, and entice our community to attend library programs.

The ideal candidate has library experience with knowledge in adult programming, circulation and information technology as well as social media experience.  This part time position requires one evening per week and Saturdays on rotation as well as a planning and implementing evening programs for adults.

Title: Adult programming and Outreach Coordinator (28-30 hours)

Hiring Wage: $17.50-$19 per hour

Benefits: Includes paid vacation and sick time on a prorated basis after a 6-month trial period is successfully completed. Paid holidays and personal days are also included.  

Job Summary:

The primary function of this position is to plan and implement programming for adults. This position will also be responsible for the library’s marketing and outreach via newsletter, Facebook, the library’s website, and other social media. Includes hours on the circulation desk.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Planning and implementing programming for adults, while overseeing ongoing programming already in place

·         Running classes on computer/technology literacy for patrons

·         Designing, creating and printing media (Creating and printing posters for programs, brochures for the library, signs, promotional materials, etc.)

·         Monitor and maintaining the library website

·         Updating the library’s social media (mostly Facebook)

·         Offering patrons basic help with library related technology devices, software and apps including NH downloadable books and Hoopla

·         Help patrons with NH Downloadable books via Overdrive/Libby

·         Manage the budget provided for adult service and outreach activities.

·         Develop opportunities for collaboration with local groups, organizations and individuals to establish and maintain library presence in the community

·         This position includes hours on the circulation desk performing circulation tasks

·         Other duties as assigned

Skills and Knowledge Required:

·         Ability to engage the community, patrons and staff in promotion of the library

·         The ability to collaborate with library staff and work effectively with patrons, volunteers and trustees

·         Must possess computer skills and an ability to adapt to new technology. A familiarity with Canva and Publisher is a plus

·         Knowledge of library systems, information technology and current library trends is important

·         Strong organizational skills and time management skills

·         Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

·         The ability to manage events with large groups of people

·         Must be comfortable facilitating programs and speaking in front of an audience

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED. 1-3 years library experience. An understanding of basic library and marketing principles. Familiarity with software applications (such as Canva, MailChimp, Microsoft products, Adobe products, Publisher) and mobile devices (smartphones, e-readers, tablets) is essential. Prior experience with adult programming is a must.

A background check will be required.
