Corporate Archives Intern, JM Family Enterprises, Inc., Deerfield Beach, FL (hybrid)

Description:

The JM Family College Internship Program is designed to create an opportunity for college students to have meaningful work experiences that tie to their programs of study. The program is a 10-week paid internship. Students must be available to intern from June 5 – August 11, 2023. Students in the program will actively contribute to their team’s success, learn about JM Family’s company and culture and obtain new skills through learning opportunities and networking events. The individual selected for this internship will be responsible for supporting their department in a variety of functions and will have exposure to activities related to the department’s initiatives. The intern will also gain access to professional development opportunities through the internship program. Some of these opportunities include business presentation skills classes, lunch and learns and career readiness workshops.  

The Corporate Archive internship will include projects and tasks that relate to Corporate Archive/Corporate Communications as well as enterprise projects and will provide opportunities for personal and professional development while working in a collaborative team environment.  

Responsibilities may include:

  • Processing and creating inventories of archival collections with preferred archival methods 
  • Rehousing, arranging and describing collection materials 
  • Using Adobe Photoshop to enhance digital images and create TIFF and JPEG files 
  • Using Adobe Acrobat Pro to convert legacy files into searchable resources 
  • Creating metadata in the Corporate Archives database 
  • Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned  
  • Interacting with clients of the Corporate Archives 
  • Scanning documents, photographs and slides using a flatbed scanner 
  • Supporting the Corporate Communication team with projects as needed 

Qualifications:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old at the start of the program (June 5, 2023) 
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop & Acrobat 
  • This is a full-time Intern position (2 days a week remote possible) 
  • Ideal candidate will be actively enrolled in a bachelor or graduate degree seeking program at an accredited college or university with a focus in Archival Management, Museum Studies, Library & Informational Sciences or History and must have completed at least two semesters of related classes 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong attention to detail  
  • Excellent written communications and strong verbal communication skills to ask questions and to seek support from supervisor 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Strong interest in collections management, archives, and historic preservation
