The Resources, Science and Industry Division (RSI) of the Congressional Research Service (CRS) is seeking an Analyst in Science and Technology (Commercial Space) to join its Science and Technology Policy Section. The analyst will conduct analyses that inform congressional deliberations on science and technology policy as applied to the commercial space sector.

The analyst will possess knowledge of the theories, concepts, processes, techniques, principles, and/or practices of science and technology policy with an emphasis on the commercial space sector. This includes knowledge of the history, trends, and current status of the commercial space sector and interrelationships of technology development, public/private activities, and services with other regulatory, budgetary and science and technology policy. The ideal candidate will demonstrate ability to develop expertise in new areas.

This position requires the ability to utilize analytical methods and techniques to analyze policy issues for the U.S. Congress. Applicants should be comfortable with quantitative approaches in research and familiar with science and technology policy issues with an emphasis on the commercial space sector and interrelationships of technology development, public/private activities, and services with other regulatory, budgetary and science and technology policy. Strong writing and presentation skills, including the ability to synthesize complex analyses into easy-to-understand language for a non-technical audience, are required.
