The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering uses biological design principles to develop new engineering innovations that will transform medicine and create a more sustainable world. Wyss Institute is seeking a tech-savvy, mission-oriented intern to join our growing team to develop Wyss’ strategic philanthropy. This opportunity is a great fit for someone looking to learn the ins and outs of foundations, corporate giving, and other types of nonprofit support. This is a paid internship opportunity, remote/hybrid.

The Strategic Engagement Intern will support the Strategic Engagement team’s efforts to expand our external engagement efforts: identifying former Wyss Community members for engagement, due diligence on potential partners and donors, and analyzing current partners and collaborators for further engagement. The primary focus will be the creation of pipelines, by inputting and analyzing data in our Hubspot CRM system, with additional work on due diligence using open source resources, like Lexis Nexis, Relationship Science, Orbis, Proquest and Pitchbook.

This paid internship will provide the opportunity to gain experience in data and information organization, proactive and due diligence research and effective communication of your work. You will participate in meaningful projects, under the guidance of the Associate Director of Strategic Engagement and the Associate Director of Business Intelligence, leading to the development of research, communication and analytical tools.

Through the internship program, you will have the opportunity to engage with members of the Business Development, Sponsored Research and Strategic Engagement teams, to learn the importance of data and open source research in translational science and entrepreneurship.

The intern will work 20-25 hours per week, start and end dates can be flexible to accommodate an academic calendar.

The ideal candidate is a critical thinker with an eye for analytics, that enjoys collaborating with key stakeholders and multiple departments. It is well suited for an individual who enjoys data, research, and strategic planning and analytical thinking, as well as working in a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • Ability to learn the Hubspot CRM system, research tools and library resources
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interface with staff at all levels of the company Critical thinking and analytic approach to data and research
  • Access to Wifi
