The Digital Scholarship Librarian works collaboratively to advance the scholarly and research activities of faculty, students, and staff engaged in digital scholarship, with particular attention to providing support for projects that involve the creation of digital editions, digital exhibits, and multimodal storytelling in a classroom setting. The Digital Scholarship Librarian will:
- Partner with faculty, students, and library staff on scholarly digital projects in all stages, including design, proposal, development, maintenance, and preservation; bringing together collaborators with various disciplinary and technical strengths as needed.
- Develop and lead workshops on digital scholarship methods, tools, and approaches for faculty, students, and library staff.
- Design and maintain instruction materials (e.g., research guides, websites, tutorials, handouts, and exercises) that effectively synthesize and demonstrate complex topics and that provide additional opportunities for self-guided learning.
$65,000 – $80,000 (depending upon years of professional experience and incoming rank of Assistant Librarian or Associate Librarian).
This full-time, full-year position is hybrid and includes work that can be done remotely as well as work that must be done on-site (e.g., classroom instruction and other programming, training, and collaboration). The person in this role is expected to commute to campus as needed.
Basic Requirements:
- Knowledge and skills as typically acquired by a Master’s degree in humanities or social sciences combined with relevant experience with scholarly digital projects, OR a Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited program, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated knowledge of digital scholarship methods, with a particular focus on digital editions, digital exhibits, and multimodal storytelling.
- Familiarity with one or more tools for creating scholarly digital projects (e.g., Omeka, Spotlight, ArcGIS StoryMaps, Hypothes.is, Scalar, GitHub Pages and Jekyll, or others).
- Instructional experience with a range of constituents.
- Demonstrated knowledge of emerging trends in digital scholarship.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and teamwork facilitation.
- Ability to communicate with a variety of partners, including technical experts and those with limited technical knowledge.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment as well as take initiative on independent projects.
- Desire to learn about patron needs, recommend solutions to continuously improve library service, and create a compelling, holistic experience of the library.
- Interest in and willingness to adopt the Tisch Library values of Community, Curiosity & Learning, Openness, and Social Justice.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
- Experience authoring or collaborating on scholarly digital projects in research or instruction.
- Experience providing instruction to others in digital scholarship methods, tools, and approaches.
