The Schwob Memorial Library at Columbus State University seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor in Library Science; Head, Music Library. This position will be responsible for the administration of the Music Library, general public service activities, and being the liaison between CSU Libraries and the Schwob School of Music.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: planning, developing, and coordinating the overall operation, services, and resources for the Music Library; collection development; liaison between CSU Libraries and the Schwob School of Music; reference/research assistance and bibliographic instruction; executes all public services activities as needed; actively participates in professional organizations on the local, state, regional, or national level; and contributes to the overall management of the CSU Libraries as a member of the library faculty and steering group. 

Qualifications:

Minimum:

Minimum qualifications include an ALA-accredited MLS / MLIS and three years of supervisory experience in a music library / collection. The candidate must also have a strong background in music and a working knowledge of western foreign language(s); have extensive training and experience overseeing library public services and a firm knowledge of technical services, especially in relation to music materials; and must demonstrate strong communication/interpersonal, organizational, creativity and analytical/problem solving skills.

Preferred:

Course work in one or more foreign languages is preferred.
