Learning Innovation Librarian, University of Arkansas, Little Rock, AR

Description:

The Learning Innovation Librarian is a 12-month faculty member who provides learning opportunities through ideation, experimentation, and creation that positively impact the academic and professional success of learners. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and will work collaboratively with a team of learner-centered, innovative library colleagues and campus partners to promote a new culture of library teaching and learning. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.


Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • A Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program;
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the provision of assistance and/or instruction in a library or educational setting.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Experience training/mentoring applied learning experiences and developing co-curricular learning activities/projects;
  • Experience applying learner-centered pedagogies and learning experience design;
  • Experience using virtual/augmented reality and gaming, 3D printing, and/or mobile technology.

Job Duties:

  • Creates learning experiences that integrate innovative and inclusive learning strategies, open pedagogy, and critical information literacy;
  • Coordinates innovative applied learning experiences that help students apply critical thinking, and information skills to real-world problems; increases engagement and social responsibility (e.g., student library advisory boards, peer reference triage training, graduate assistantship learning projects, etc.);
  • Collaborates across curricular and co-curricular areas to co-create assignments/assessments that allow learners options to express learning, and apply information and professional skills;
  • Develops appropriate assessment measures and tools as part of a culture of continuous improvement;
  • Contributes to the creation of learner resources through the lens of equity, belonging, and affordability.
  • Provides student research support as part of a shared service model;
  • Builds collaborative relationships among others in the university community;
  • Engages in scholarly, professional, and service activities in accordance with institutional and faculty governance documents;
  • Works in a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment;
  • Works nights and weekends as needed;
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of educational trends and emerging technologies;
  • Knowledge of assessment standards/frameworks (e.g. CAS, LEAP, etc.);
  • Highly collaborative, flexible, and adaptable;
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
