Library Director, Joseph H. Plumb Memorial Library, Rochester, MA

The Board of Trustees of the Joseph H. Plumb Memorial Library seeks a Director to oversee and manage a wide spectrum of programs, services, and resources for patrons of the Plumb Memorial Library. The Director works under the policy direction of the Board of Library Trustees and in accordance with the standards of the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) and the Massachusetts General Laws. 

The Director oversees day-to-day operation of the Plumb Memorial Library while developing library policies, programs, and procedures.This position performs highly responsible work requiring frequent exercise of leadership, independent judgment, and initiative in planning, organizing, and managing the town’s public library and in the development of library services to meet individual, and community needs.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, as well as knowledge of public library and general management principles, collection development, and library technology. A Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school is highly desirable; three years of progressively responsible experience in general library work in all specialized areas including reference, cataloging, materials selection, administration required; experience with automated library systems (SAILS-SIRSI/DYNIX) and computers required; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and expertise.

Education

Salary $70,000 – $75,000 depending on qualifications
