The Hispanic- American Library has been in existence since 1994, other partner organizations housed the library in the past, and our partnerships continue. Today the Library has its site at the Springfield Union Station at 55 Frank B Murray St, Springfield. Our central location facilitates access to the Hispanic community and the community at large.

The Hispanic- American Library, Inc. was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and determined to be a charitable organization by the Internal Revenue

Service under the federal tax code Chapter 501© (3). The goal of the community-based, voluntary organization is to expand library services that focus on the works,

achievements, and accomplishments of Latin Americans. The resources and documents are both in English and Spanish. Presentations, lectures, literacy-oriented programs, and activities are available to the community.

One of the most valuable assets the library has is a group of highly educated and experienced volunteers that are committed to lending their expertise to assist and support the development of programs, monitor, measure outcomes, and document progress in the areas of education, program development, research, services, and events. We have two experienced bicultural teachers donating a portion of their time.

The Hispanic- American Library is operated by a group of volunteers and paid employees that are all part of a minority group. Our founder Juan Falcon is a United States Army veteran of the 3rd infantry.  The Organization is committed to and accountable for advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability in all its forms.

The Hispanic- American Library is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All applicants/ volunteers receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.

Our organization has the commitment, expertise, and responsibility to assist the Latino community with programs and events that will increase their educational and personal growth. COVID-19 spurred a need to reassess the needs of our targeted population and shift our attention to emerging needs.

The pandemic motivated us to be more agile, to pivot and approach issues more innovatively, and challenged us to look at our work differently going forward. It has been difficult in many ways but also very positive in adapting our culture to be more fluid, agile, and paperless.

During this period of extreme financial pressures brought about because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we continued to provide services assisted by loyal volunteers trained and supported by the organization. These conditions propelled us into adopting a comprehensive approach that we know will serve our community and make us more efficient and effective in facing and combating the negative impact of the pandemic.
