Temporary Access Services Assistant, Harvard University Library, Cambridge, MA

Description:

Access Services including circulation, resource sharing, information services and collections.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Circulation: opens and/or closes the library; performs tasks associated with Alma circulation system (loans/returns, creates holds, etc.); communicates and enforces library policies; assists patrons with HOLLIS catalog; locates material on shelf, processes requests; physically assists patrons in finding material.

Resource Sharing: assists with interlibrary loan activities including Scan & Deliver and Borrow Direct workflows.

Information Services: provides basis information services, instructs patrons in use of equipment (such as scanner, microfilm reader); refers complex reference questions to specialized research staff. Assists users with disabilities in accessing materials.

Collections: day-to-day shelving including monographs, serials, loose-leaf and microforms; stacks pick up, measuring, shifting and transfers to remote storage; assists with end processing.

Schedule Summer: Monday-Friday 10am – 6pm. May include 8am – 4pm to support business needs.

Schedule September: Sunday -Thursday 9am – 5pm.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

•         High school diploma or equivalent education or experienced required.

•         Previous library or customer service-related experience
