Electronic Resources and Collections Services Librarian, Bridgewater State University, MA

Description:

  • Provide leadership for Electronic Resources & Collections Services, which includes managing the
    selection, acquisition, cataloging/preservation, and assessment of resources in all formats.
  • Collaborate with the Dean of the Library to manage the annual materials budget and information
    resources expenditures.
  • Work with publishers and vendors to negotiate and maintain electronic resource licenses and
    contracts, manage database subscriptions, purchase orders, and electronic licensing
    agreements; resolve related problems as needed.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
    with a wide range of abilities.
  • Supervise three Library Assistants and mentor student workers.
  • Work with library colleagues to set acquisitions and e-resources policies, workflows, and
    procedures.
  • Collaborate with other librarians to provide expert advice to the library and campus on library and
    information resources.
  • Evaluate and recommend new titles, demonstrations, or trial subscriptions for librarian and faculty
    evaluation.
  • Provide training on e-resources for librarians and staff; create LibGuides and research aids in
    other formats for assigned liaison areas.
  • Collaborate with the Emerging Technologies and Systems Librarian to update knowledgebases,
    proxies, reference linking systems, and discovery interfaces as necessary (EBSCO, EZProxy,
    etc.).
  • Collaborate with the Library Administrative Services Coordinator to ensure that vendor invoices
    are paid in a timely manner.
  • Collect statistics on resource usage in all formats. Collaborate with librarians and library
    administration to conduct ongoing assessment of collections.
  • Serve as a liaison to one or more departments/programs.
  • Actively engage in professional development activities as required for promotion and tenure.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited program.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years of relevant experience pertaining to acquisitions and collection development.
  • Knowledge of current issues in the e-resources lifecycle, including acquiring, licensing, and
    managing access to electronic resources.
  • Awareness of current developments and trends in electronic resources, collection development
    and acquisitions with the proven ability to apply such knowledge to local practices.
  • Understanding of library metadata standards (MARC21, Dublin Core, RDA, etc.).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with automated library systems, usage tools, and vendor management
    tools.
  • Experience with electronic resources, digital rights management tools and standards.
  • Commitment to customer service excellence/support to enhance an environment of equity,
    diversity, and inclusion.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic, evolving library and campus environment.
  • Ability to think strategically, set priorities, and manage responsibilities independently.
  • Evidence of ability to successfully engage in professional activities and disciplinary scholarship to
    satisfy promotion and tenure requirements for the Massachusetts State College Association
    (MSCA) collective bargaining agreement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Second master’s degree. (Required for promotion beyond associate librarian rank.)
  • Knowledge of the publishing industry and copyright issues.
  • Experience with library management systems, electronic resources management tools such as CORAL, and COUNTER data standards.
  • Experience with Springshare’s LibApps or other content management tools.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic, evolving library and campus environment.
  • Ability to think strategically, set priorities, and manage responsibilities independently.
