The Town of Stoneham, a small, residential community just 10 miles north of Boston, is seeking to fill the full-time position of Library Director. The Stoneham Public Library is situated in the heart of downtown Stoneham in a historic Carnegie library building. The library serves a population of over 23,000 residents and is part of the North of Boston Library Exchange regional network.
The Library Director is responsible for the management, direction, and administration of the Stoneham Public Library, including all library services, personnel, policies, outreach, and programs. The successful candidate will be:
a strong communicator able to advocate for the library at all levels of municipal and state governance,
an adept multitasker able to juggle and prioritize among competing areas of focus,
a capable delegator and manager able to motivate staff to perform at their best, and
a problem solver able to think creatively and innovatively about the opportunities and challenges facing public libraries.

Qualifications:
A Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an accredited American Library Association Program is required with a certificate from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in professional library work, including administrative and supervisory responsibility.

Salary: $88,000-$95,000 (annually) with a generous benefits package. Compensation commensurate with education and experience. As a condition of employment the employee is required to successfully complete a CORI review and a pre-employment physical with drug screen.
