Reference & Technology Librarian, Hamilton-Wenham Public Library (Hamilton)

The Reference & Technology Librarian has responsibility for services and outreach related to technology and reference services to the public and staff.


Essential duties and responsibilities include:
* Manage the library’s public and staff computers in cooperation with a contract IT company and the Library Director. Serves as liaison to Merrimack Valley Library Consortium’s technology department and user group
* Assess current equipment and makes recommendations for replacements and enhancements. Maintains active technology equipment inventory
* Perform regular computer updates, monitor the print management system, and troubleshoot technology issues
* Provide reference, reader’s advisory and information services on-site, online and by telephone
* Responsible for assisting patrons and staff with technology instruction and implementing new technologies and resources as needed
* Plan and organize topical programs relating to computers, library databases and emerging technologies for adults. Organizes and provides one-on-one patron technology appointments
* Maintains statistics related to technology and use
* Assists the public in use of equipment and library resources
* Assists at all public service desks as needed

Qualifications

* Masters of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited university or MLS enrolled student with previous library experience
* Knowledge of computer operating systems, LAN systems, hardware, software and peripheral components essential
* Knowledge of current and emerging library technology, trends, and practices
* Ability to teach and problem solve across a wide range of technologies including computers, desktop publishing equipment, office equipment, automated library equipment 
* Ability to function well as part of a team that supports the overall goals of the library
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

AFSCME Union position – fully benefited – includes one night a week and some Saturdays
