The Weymouth Public Libraries seeks a motivated, enthusiastic team player with superior customer service skills who is extremely comfortable and skilled at dealing with children and emerging technologies. Works in a department that meets the informational, educational, and recreational needs of children ages twelve and under and their caregivers. Performs responsible and varied clerical library services in the circulation of materials; performs clerical- administrative work; assists patrons in using library services, computers and technology, and facilities.

We are fortunate to be in a state-of-the-art new building. Opened in the fall of 2020, the new Tufts Library is the flagship library of the Weymouth Public Libraries. The new 50,000-square- foot library includes five meeting rooms, ten study rooms, a digital media lab, local history center, teen room, quiet room, library programming rooms, and an outdoor amphitheater. Partially funded by a Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program grant, the $33 million library embraces innovation while honoring Weymouth’s storied past.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience
Education: A high school diploma or GED required with a four-year degree preferred.

Experience: Previous work experience with children or within a library or early education setting is preferred.


Knowledge, Ability and Skill
Knowledge: Knowledge of library clerical procedures and practices and general principles of library technical system. Knowledge of classic and current children’s literature.


Ability and Skill: Ability to interpret instructions both in written and oral form; ability to problem solve; typing, filing, data entry and general mathematical skills. Strong comfort level with technology, software, and communication via email. Ability to work with a diverse population by providing superior customer service. Ability to create a welcoming environment for all.

Salary: $16.88/hour

Part-Time/14 Hours per Week

When Open on Saturdays: Fridays 9-5 and Saturdays 9-5
When Closed on Saturdays: Wednesdays 9-5 and Fridays 9-5
