Newton Country Day School, a Catholic independent school for girls in grades 5-12, seeks a Technology and Innovation Teacher. This faculty position requires a dynamic teacher, technology enthusiast, and collaborator with an understanding of educational technology and a desire to inspire students and teachers to interface confidently with tools for learning and innovation. This position entails both teaching middle school technology classes and promoting technology integration through school-wide support and coaching. The Technology and Innovation Teacher champions and encourages teachers to use technology meaningfully within academic disciplines and through interdisciplinary inquiry and project-based learning. The person in this position works closely with the Academic Technology Department Chair, Network Administrator, and technology and computer science faculty to build the instructional capacity of the faculty. The role requires flexibility and collaboration to advance the use of technology to support excellent, evidence-based teaching and learning.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leverage technology to support best practices in pedagogy
  • Support technology integration and act as a thought partner and resource for teachers
  • Work with students and faculty as a member of the library resource team to support research across the curriculum
  • Work with students both as the primary teacher and support resource
  • Teach and collaborate on the design of Middle School Technology and Upper School Computer Science courses
  • Collaborate with the Network Administrator to manage educational technology tools, such as the Google for Education applications and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Plan workshops and professional development opportunities for students and teachers
  • Create multimedia learning resources to assist students and teachers with the use of educational technology applications, equipment, and pedagogy

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in an educational environment with middle and/or high school students
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • An educator who is innovative, reliable, positive, approachable, patient, helpful, flexible,
    and enthusiastic
  • A creative problem solver
  • A lifelong learner who is tuned into emerging educational technologies
  • Some experience coding in multiple programming languages a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • A strong foundation in pedagogy and teaching methodologies
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to participate actively in the life of the school community
