In partnership with Harvard’s Administrative Fellowship Program and the ACRL Diversity Alliance, the Harvard Library Diversity Residency Program attracts talented librarians, and in particular, members of historically underrepresented groups, to provide meaningful professional working experience and to cultivate the professional goals and interests of the resident. Additionally, through a combination of events sponsored by the Harvard Library, the Administrative Fellowship Program, and the ACRL Diversity Alliance, Residents have the opportunity to work in an academic environment complemented by career development experiences.

Reporting to the AUL for Discovery & Access, the Strategic Projects Manager will develop and manage strategic projects for teams across the portfolio, including Access Services, Imaging Services, Information & Technical Services, and UX & Discovery, serving as a lead for communications, tracking, and reporting on initiatives that further the Harvard Library Multi-Year Goals and Objectives.

Specific projects include, but are not limited to, the development of a Harvard Library collections digitization program, resource sharing and discovery enhancements in collaboration with peer institutions, implementing broad-scale batch records updates and metadata sharing, and development of a workflow for standardized rights statements for digital collections.

This is a two-year residency.

Position Description

  • Serves as a peer leader, bringing together teams of staff from across the Discovery & Access portfolio, as well as key stakeholders, to develop project charters and/or planning documents.
  • Monitor, organize, and help ensure the timely execution of project deliverables.
  • Facilitates robust communication among internal and external partners, and track budgets and expenditures.
  • Project manages the historical datasets pilot
  • Responsible for building and maintaining a strong rapport with vendors.
  • Collaborates with Technical Services and Access Service on various projects

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in library/information science
  • Minimum of one-year professional work experience. This includes internships and volunteer experience.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging and antiracism.
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following project management software: Air Table, Visio, or MS Office at plus
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Understanding of metadata, a plus
