Job Role: Aerospace Archivist

  • The Archivist role plans, organizes and supervises programs for the collection, preservation, and research use of the archival collections.
  • The Archivist interprets archival statutes and regulations, creates archival policies, procedures criteria and policies including retention, deaccession, accepting and security.
  • The Archivist provides expertise to identify and transfer paper-based electronic records of permanent value , consult with subject matter experts to define the metadata structure for the collection; make recommendations for digitalization of individual items and incorporate metadata into Archivera to make the metadata available to employees.
  • The Archivist will make such collections accessible for the purposes of research and use by various constituencies through the development of effective cataloging; creation of finding guides, exhibitions, and online resources; inventory collection; teaching, instruction, and reference services; and other outreach programs and activities.
  • The Archivist will consult in preservation assessment and define the appropriate follow on actions.
  • The Archivist will assist in appropriate marketing, fundraising and grant activities when appropriate.

You will have:

  • Conservation skills for the stabilization of the collection; broad knowledge of records management and current technological issues and applications relevant to archival management especially knowledge of Digital Asset Management (DAM)
  • Demonstrated experience with project planning, management and completion; excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, initiative and flexibility.
  • Education or at least 2 years of experience in an archival setting.
