The Reference and Instruction Librarian performs a broad range of professional responsibilities of librarianship serving the information needs of students, faculty, and the residents of the communities served by the College. Responsibilities include the design, development, delivery, and assessment of information literacy instruction in on-ground, hybrid, and online courses; reference services; individual research consultations; liaison responsibilities for academic departments and programs; and collection development and maintenance.
Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
An ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science or Library and Information Studies or appropriately related discipline with one (1) or more years of related experience; or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.
Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
- Experience in information literacy instruction incorporating emerging information technologies and creating active learning environments on-ground and online
- Experience providing reference services and/or individual research consultations
- Experience providing – technical support in common software applications.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience creating online learning objects including video, tutorials, and research guides
- Experience in instructional design, student learning, and assessment
- Experience with creating accessible content with WCAG and universal design for learning principles
- Experience with the ACRL Framework, OER, and Creative Commons licenses
- Experience in an academic setting providing direct service to students and faculty.
- Prior experience working in a community college.
