The Reference/Technology Librarian works under the direction of the Library Director.  This position is responsible for assisting patrons at the reference desk; supports and troubleshoots technology and technological services within the library as needed; maintains the library’s social media presence; develops and conducts technology instruction and education programs for patrons and staff; and recommends policies and procedures regarding library technologies as needed.

Regularly scheduled to work 19 hours or less/week

Hours include two evenings/week and participation in regular weekend coverage rotation 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: 

Proficiency in technology use, instruction and troubleshooting in a library setting.

Experience in the use of social networking applications and tools; experience maintaining a social media presence for an organization Preferred.

Knowledge of principles and practices of professional library work, procedures, reference sources and research techniques.

Strong customer service experience, ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, as well as ability to work in a highly collaborative, team-based environment.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in library and information science or similar field from an American Library Association accredited program and at least one (1) year of reference desk/adult services experience. Students close to completion of their MLIS will also be considered.  Two (2) or more years experience in a similar position in a public library is Preferred.

$28.26 – $33.91  /  hour, depending on qualifications.
