The State University of New York at Oswego is looking to fill the position of Electronic Resources and Systems Librarian. We hope you will consider joining our team! The Electronic Resources and Systems Librarian will contribute to the Library’s mission of delivering a seamless experience to users for discovering library resources and services.

The Electronic Resources and Systems Librarian will:

  • Contribute to the Library’s mission of delivering a seamless experience to users for discovering library resources and services.
  • Assume a leadership role in providing access to electronic resources, including administrative tasks such as interface changes and technical issues; maintenance and generation of usage reports to support collection development decisions; and assisting with database trials.
  • Collaborate with partners — librarians, Campus Technology Services, and the Office of Communications and Marketing — to deliver, maintain, and continuously improve Library online resources and services, in alignment with Library and institution-wide strategic goals.
  • Manage and administer the library’s discovery tool, integrated knowledge base, and OpenURL link resolver.
  • Provide direction and expertise related to establishing and maintaining access to electronic resources including coordinating work with database providers, vendors, and publishers to enable access, resolve problems, manage technical changes, and respond to end-user issues with electronic resources in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate on leading the review and evaluation of electronic resources.
  • Work in collaboration with library staff, faculty, and students to develop, implement and assess policies, practices and technologies designed to enhance library resources and services discovery and sharing.
  • Act as lead administrator for Alma, responsible for troubleshooting issues, testing new features, and new configurations of the system. Chair Penfield’s Alma/Primo Committee consisting of librarians from Access Services, Resource Sharing, and Technical Services units. Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and other types of documentation pertaining to library systems and electronic resources as needed.
  • Serve as liaison to assigned academic departments, providing instruction and participating in collection development in those areas.
  • Participate in Research Help Desk rotation for on-site and virtual reference (may include some evening shifts).
  • May supervise students or staff.
  • Engage in educational opportunities about, and work to increase awareness and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion. In addition, this position will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for excellence in librarianship, scholarship, and service; commitment to undergraduate and graduate education; and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.
