Lead Information Consultant, Fidelity Investments, Boston, MA

Are you looking for a research librarian role in a business setting? The Lead Information Consultant is responsible for providing research support to investment professionals including analysts and portfolio managers. We believe that your skills in identifying, accessing, and assessing relevant qualitative and quantitative information are essential components of the research process. Our investment professionals rely on you to organize and clean data, to identify resources and topics that align with their subject interests, and to proactively communicate your findings. You set your daily agenda by receiving new research requests and completing short- and long-term requests while contributing to projects that increase the value of research and information services to our partners. 

As part of the information consulting team, this role partners with our Senior Information Analysts to support research teams within Fidelity’s Global Asset Allocation (GAA) and Strategic Advisers (SAI) units. Our work helps investment professionals access the data and information they need to make recommendations to internal and external clients. We value new perspectives and excellent communication. Qualifications:

  • You have a Master of Library Science/Library and Information Studies (MLS/MLIS) or you are currently completing this degree 
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Excel and have experience working with medium and large datasets from disparate sources
  • You have experience in business research, financial services industry research, or library reference work
  • You are familiar with financial markets platforms such as Bloomberg, FactSet, S&P CapitalIQ, or have other database expertise
  • You evaluate information tools and sources for trustworthiness, appropriate use, and cost
  • You are a self-starter who communicates effectively and balances several short-term projects at one time
  • You are resourceful and apply analytical thinking to provide solutions to sophisticated questions
  • You are enthusiastic about team development by sharing your skills and knowledge
