The Department of Information Science (IS) in the College of Information of the University of North Texas invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track) position with a research and teaching focus in archival studies and archival management. The main responsibilities of the job involve teaching students at the graduate and undergraduate level in archival studies, records management, and information science, coordinating the concentration in archival studies and the graduate academic certificate in archival management, conducting research in related areas and providing service to the university and the profession. We seek candidates who will provide inspiration and leadership in research and teaching, who can leverage the strengths of the department’s dynamic faculty and programs, and who will build collaborative relationships in the University and profession.
This is a nine month, full-time, tenure-track position. The successful candidate will be expected to show evidence of or develop a record of scholarly research necessary to earn tenure. The candidate must demonstrate ability to design and deliver courses in a variety of formats, including online and hybrid modalities, and is expected to teach core courses and specialized courses in library science and Information Science. The candidate is also expected to coordinate students’ practicum/internship experiences, work closely with doctoral students and serve on dissertation committees, and develop close relationships with practitioners and educators in the field.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have an earned doctorate degree in archival studies, library science, information science or other closely related fields. Applicants seeking appointment with tenure at the associate professor rank must demonstrate evidence of effective teaching, research, and scholarship and must meet UNT’s criteria for tenure at the associate professor level. All candidates must demonstrate relevant working experience or expertise in the form of research and publications in archives and archival studies. Preferred qualifications include teaching experience and research in areas such as archival studies, archival management, records management, library and information science.
