Branch Manager, Barney Library Branch (Farmington Libraries), Farmington, CT

The Farmington Libraries is seeking an enthusiastic community-minded person to become our new Branch Manager at the Barney Library. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience serving the needs of customers in a public library or similar customer service environment. The Barney Library has a long and proud tradition of serving the needs of Farmington residents, including those who live in Farmington Village. This full-service Branch Library exudes historic character in a charming New England setting that local residents treasure as their home away from home.

The Barney Library Branch Manager has overall responsibility and accountability of all functions of the Barney Library Branch. This includes the management of the public service operations including lending services, adult services, youth services, outreach services and building security. The Branch Manager coordinates the development of the Barney Library’s print and non-print collections and programming efforts and supports the Branch staff in all areas of administration. This position ensures the highest level of service is provided by Branch staff to all those who visit the Branch, whether in-person or virtually, in order to access library and information services. Ensuring equity, diversity and inclusion is a central focus of the Farmington Libraries.

A Master’s Degree in Library Science or related field is preferred. A minimum of three years of increasingly responsible leadership experience in a public library, school library or museum setting, along with a minimum of two years of supervisory experience is required.

Hours: 35 hours per week, including one evening per week and regular Saturday rotation is required.

Salary: $50,000-$57,500 with excellent benefits, including paid health insurance, paid vacation and sick leave.
