Digital Project Intern, Phillips Library, Rowley, MA

Join the Phillips Library, PEM’s research library, as a digital projects intern! Our digitization program exponentially increases free, worldwide access to our collections and demonstrates that the library is a vital and engaged part of the museum and its communities. This internship will include research into provenance and copyright status of our various collections on the Salem Fire of 1914. It will include imaging and post-processing of the collections in Capture One and Photoshop. You will also create appropriate descriptive metadata about these items for entry into our new online collections platform, currently under construction. In addition to time spent on the main project, you will have dedicated time to shadow other library units and staff. We will provide a broad view of the entire library operation, and encourage you to participate in meetings, small projects, outings, and other opportunities as they arise during your time with us. This internship will include a $1,000 stipend.

Internship Qualifications: Interest in library services or a related field. Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Competence with Microsoft Office and Google suites is preferred. You will receive training in library and museum systems used for the project. Please note that this position is at PEM’s Collection Center in Rowley, MA and reliable transportation is required.
