Archives Processing Assistant, Harvard Art Museums Archives, Cambridge, MA

The Harvard Art Museums Archives seeks an experienced Archives Processing Assistant to arrange, rehouse, and describe multiple archival collections with women creators.

This is a less than half time non-benefited position, up to 14 hours per week, approximately January-June 2022.

Schedule: Hours must be completed Tuesday-Friday between 9am-5pm. Wednesday/Thursday availability preferred.  

Rate: $24-26/hour, dependent on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Process collections using procedures outlined in repository manuals, rehousing materials and addressing preservation issues as needed
  • Create DACS-compliant finding aids and MARC records for inclusion in Harvard’s public discovery systems
  • Select representative collection materials for potential use on the museums’ social media or within an archives exhibit

Qualifications:

Required

  • MLS with archives concentration from an ALA-accredited program
  • Minimum of one year of professional archival experience, including archival processing and description
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Positive, problem-solving, and customer service attitude
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs and climb ladders

Preferred

  • Experience with ArchivesSpace a strong plus
  • Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented
