The Alumni Medical Library at Boston University seeks an experienced, collaborative professional to serve in the newly created position of Research and Education Librarian. The Alumni Medical Library serves the faculty, staff and students of the Boston University Schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine and Public Health. The Research and Education Librarian will work in the Reference and Education Services department, reporting to the Assistant Director of Library and Information Management Education. The Research and Education Librarian works to advance research, scholarship, and teaching through participation, assessment, and coordination of Expert Search Services in the Alumni Medical Library.

The Research and Education Librarian is the primary library liaison to Boston University Medical Campus researchers with broad duties, including research data management, scholarly communications and expert searching. This position will also participate in general reference and library instruction. position builds and maintains collaborative relationships with researchers through outreach, instruction, and research support services. As the most experienced reference librarian, this position serves as a mentor to newer staff.

Required Skills:

The successful candidate will hold a master’s degree in library and information science or equivalent with an additional subject matter degree preferred. Other requirements include 5+ years experience supporting health sciences students, faculty and researchers; demonstrated expert searching and teaching experience; and additional training in data management and systematic reviews.
