Description:

Research and Literature Searching

  • Conduct research to support project work and business development initiatives by utilizing various internal and external resources in the fields of toxicology, life and environmental sciences, legal cases and government regulations.
  • Translate user information needs into effective search strategies using a variety of resources such as PubMed, Scopus, ToxPlanet, and LexisNexis Courtlink. Evaluate, analyze, synthesize and deliver research results effectively.


Current Awareness and Business Development Support

  • Track and monitor business trends, regulatory developments, scientific and legal news in the company’s core practice areas.
  • Establish and maintain effective tracking strategies and systems for conducting competitive intelligence and conflict of interest searches to support marketing and business development.
  • Disseminate the results through multiple channels including email, SharePoint, Excel, Inmagic Presto and LibGuides.


Training

  • Work with IRC team to provide end-user training in IRC resources as well as orientation sessions on information resources and library procedures for new staff.


Other

  • Support IRC activities and other tasks as assigned, including document management and document retrieval.

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Broad knowledge of environmental health and science information resources (peer-reviewed literature, conferences, regulatory arena, government agencies, and document repositories).
  • Experience and ability to perform scientific, industry, regulatory, and general research using a variety of print and digital tools, including PubMed, Scopus, and LexisNexis Courtlink.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office, LibGuides, SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.


Communication/Collaboration

  • Excellent written, oral, and email communication skills.
  • Confidence in presenting to groups of all sizes and knowledge levels both in person and virtually.
  • Proactive and willing to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks within a team environment, relying on experience and independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

3-5 years experience in literature searching and research in a corporate or academic library; experience in an environmental health or science setting is preferred.

Master’s Degree in Library and Information Sciences from an ALA (American Library Association)-accredited program. B.S. in a science discipline preferred but not required.
