About the Opportunity:

The Northeastern University Library seeks innovative, creative problem-solvers who are detail-oriented and committed to helping users access the university library’s broad array of physical and digital resources and services. The facility is open 24/7 and welcomes 9,000+ users any given weekday.

The IDEAS Collections Coordinator maintains the working order of the library’s physical collection and manages the receipt and delivery of offsite storage materials. They will search for requested or missing materials and will update the corresponding item records in the Library’s inventory management system.  All staff in the IDEAS department supervise the Library’s Help & Information Desk and the Access Point daily and work with their colleagues to provide excellent in-person and virtual customer service that centers EDI and accessibility. They will contribute to the circulation functions, library access and privileges, course reserves, resource sharing, and collections maintenance operations of the IDEAS department. 

Hours for this position are Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm. Possibility for some remote work.  (Hours may change based on service hours and holidays).

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the order of the Library’s physical collection.
  • Manage the receipt and delivery of offsite storage materials.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise student employees to assist with the Library’s stacks maintenance operations.
  • Supervise the Library’s Help & Information Desk and the Access Point daily during regular shifts.
  • Provide virtual library services, responding to email, chats, and texts via LibAnswers.

Qualifications:

  • Positive and creative problem solver with a BA or BS degree and at least 1 year of previous library (or equivalent) experience.
  • Ability to create and analyze workflows for processing materials.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a large and diverse population of Northeastern faculty, staff, and students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Prior experience using a library management system (e.g. Ex Libris’ Alma) and/or library software (e.g. Springshare LibApps suite).
