Assistant Scholarly Communications Librarian (Full-Time), Framingham State University, MA

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Reporting to the Dean of the Library and informed by the University’s strategic priorities, the Scholarly Communications Librarian will build relationships with other departments across the university to advance scholarly communication efforts on campus, including open access, open educational resources, and data management.

The Scholarly Communications Librarian is a member of the Research and Learning Department, providing information literacy instruction and research assistance to both students and faculty face-to-face and online.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate innovative, sustainable, and inclusive scholarly communication services and policies that support open access and OER.
  • Collaborate with Digital Services Librarian to facilitate the publication, curation, and preservation of scholarly content such as journal articles, conference proceedings, monographs, OER and other unique research and teaching materials via the institutional repository and other platforms.
  • Work with the Digital Services team and other librarians to promote and support the institutional repository.
  • Contribute to library initiatives to support FSU researchers in demonstrating impact of their work and explore new and alternative metrics.
  • Monitor advancements in scholarly communication, OA, OER, data management and communicate to opportunities to library and faculty.
  • Provide outreach and training on scholarly communication topics for library and campus constituencies.
  • Participates in the embedded librarian program to provide point-of-need service in the campus LMS.
  • Collaborates with the Research and Learning team on the assessment of departmental services.
  • Serves as the liaison to academic departments.
  • Assists with collection development projects.
  • Incorporates an anti-racist and diversity, equity, and inclusion lens into work in the Library and contributions to campus.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ALA-accredited Master’s degree.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current issues, trends, and best practices in scholarly communications.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) bargaining unit at the rank of Assistant Librarian. Salary commensurate with experience in accordance with Appendix O of the MSCA contract (http://mscaunion.org/day-and-dgce-contracts/).
