Librarian-Teacher ( Half Year Position), Wachusett Regional High School, Holden, MA

Teacher-Librarian Regular Duties:

  • Be well-read, knowledgeable, and up-to-date on current and popular fiction and nonfiction for readers’ advisory/book recommendations.
  • Organize and lead regular book talks (Could lead 20+ book talk sessions for ELA classes in one quarter)
  • Manage the library collection (book circulation, overdue notices, book processing, etc.) using Follett Destiny
  • Request, reserve, and borrow books through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) from the public library for the WRHS community using the WRHS CWMars Institution library card
  • Collaborate with with Holden Gale Free Public Library (especially the Teen Librarian), to access resources and texts relevant to the curriculum
  • Instruct WRHS educators, students, and administrators on access and use of online resources such as the Destiny Catalog, Sora, Overdrive/Libby, local databases, BPL databases, and online newspapers
  • Design lessons and collaboratively teach information literacy, citation, and research skills to students grades 9-12 in all subjects and levels
  • Create and present print and digital educational materials relevant to research and information literacy to faculty and students
  • Collaborate with the Technology Integration Specialist to teach and reinforce digital citizenship skills
  • Assist faculty and staff in the selection, evaluation, and use of resources, including Internet-based resources
  • Communicate with parents as needed
  • Assist students and staff in locating, evaluating and using library media materials and technologies
  • Organize and manage short-term student Chromebook loans
  • Facilitate and monitor upperclassmen in the Library Media Center during the long lunch block
  • Understand and model copyright, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property and assist students, staff, and administration with their understanding and observance of same
  • Participate in other school community roles as needed, such as monitoring studies and managing use of the library space by students, faculty, and administration

Requirements:

  • Half Year position – Late November, 2021 – June , 2022
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
