Assistant Professor/Electronic Resources Librarian (Full-Time), University of Southern Mississippi, MS

The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor/Electronic Resources Librarian, in the University Libraries to begin in the spring of 2022.

Job Summary:

As a member of the Technical Services unit, the Electronic Resources Librarian works collaboratively to innovate the electronic resources lifecycle. The Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for the management of current and future electronic content. This includes the preservation, activation, troubleshooting of resources, metadata maintenance for resources, data analysis and visualization, working with internal and external customers to improve discovery, and developing best practices for resource management.

Salary: Salary for this position is $45,000 annually.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in library and/or information science from a program accredited by the American Library Association or from an equivalent program accredited or recognized by the appropriate national body of another country.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Demonstrated experience with ERMS (Electronic Resource Management Systems).
  • Knowledge of metadata and bibliographic principles.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of individuals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ExLibris Alma.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and enhancing metadata.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the electronic resource lifecycle and management practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with data analysis and data visualization.
  • Demonstrated experience with Excel and Access.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards for electronic resources.
  • Project management experience and determining processes.
