Social Sciences Librarian, Lesley University, Cambridge, MA

Lesley seeks a creative and collaborative Social Sciences Librarian who will serve as the subject librarian and teach information literacy, provide research assistance, and develop print and electronic resources in the disciplines of the social sciences, including Expressive Therapies, Counseling & Psychology, Mindfulness, and Creative Writing.

As part of the library team, the Social Sciences Librarian participates in general library instruction, research assistance, assessment activities and other university initiatives as assigned. Please note this is an evening position.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • ALA accredited MLS or Master’s in a related field
  • Demonstrated subject knowledge of counseling psychology or expressive arts therapies and disciplinary research methods
  • Experience providing research and instruction services in an academic library.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as assigned.
  • Engaging classroom presence and oral communication skills, evidenced by flexibility to teach in multiple modalities, leveraging academic technologies, and successful experience teaching outcomes-based lessons
  • Proven ability to initiate and implement projects
  • Competency with a variety of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, and content management systems such as LibGuides.
  • Familiarity with Integrated Library Systems such as Voyager. Experience with specific platforms is less important than a demonstrated willingness to explore, evaluate and use emerging technologies.
