The Senior KM Content Specialist plays an important role as a member of the KM Content Management and Support team who manage and support the firm’s internal knowledge management web sites. The Senior KM Content Specialist is the liaison and key point of contact for site owners, content managers, content contributors and business development/client support teams for assigned web sites. Responsible for developing sites that increase lawyer’s and business support ability to quickly find and access information, share knowledge, facilitate communication and collaboration, and promote and enable centralized management and dissemination of information and data. Coordinates and manages all aspects of site design and development, testing, governance, permission management, and other related KM issues.

Leads and manages projects including the development of new sites, implementing revisions and enhancements to existing sites and portals, integrating content from FileSite and other firm systems, conducting training and creating documentation.

Gathers, reviews, analyzes and evaluates user needs, and defines and documents detailed descriptions of general business and functional requirements. Adheres to best practices and standards for SharePoint content management. Participates in other KM projects as required, particularly related to platform upgrades and redesigns.

Strong analytical skills are essential along with the ability to clearly articulate and document requirements and solutions. Must be a strong communicator able to interact effectively with professionals at all levels. A working knowledge of legal processes is highly desirable in order to develop sites and solutions that support the way lawyers work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.      Liaison and key point of contact between the KM Content Management and Support team and the site owners, content managers, and content contributors for assigned web sites for support related to site management, FileSite and other firm content integration, issue resolution and related KM issues.

2.      Lead and independently manage projects, and provide ongoing support, mentoring, training and advisory guidance to site owners, content managers, and content contributors for assigned web sites. Keep parties and manager informed of status of projects throughout lifecycle.

3.      Work with site owners and content managers to regularly review sites to ensure that best practices are followed and content governance plans are in place.

4.      Work with site owners and content managers to gather, review, analyze and evaluate user needs and requirements. Define and document detailed description of general business and functional requirements for consideration of new custom solutions or solutions outside of scope of standard toolkits.

5.      Collaborate with the KM Content Management and Support team to recommend SharePoint and KM solutions that adhere to firm, content management, best practices and standards.

6.      Develop and carry out test plans related to site management to ensure that all site support and other work adheres to the highest level of quality and meets or exceeds customer requirements.

7.      Implement content management, metadata, best practices and other standards related to site creation, customization, maintenance; adding and configuring web parts; and other related tools and processes.

8.      Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving issues or for appropriately steering requests, incident tickets and other issues according to established guidelines, for assigned sites.

9.      Assist in maintaining and organizing the KM Content Management and Support team’s Team site, and in keeping project tasks and tracking lists up-to-date.

10.  Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

·         Bachelor’s degree in computer science, communications, information systems or related field

·         Minimum 5 years experience as an advanced SharePoint power-user using SharePoint 2010 and/or higher versions of the platform.

·         Experience in business analysis, process management, and permissions management related to implementing SharePoint solutions

·         Experience with training end-users on SharePoint site management and with creating related end-user and/or team documentation

·         Law firm experience highly desirable

WORKING CONDITIONS:
