Archival Intern, Town of Bedford Archives, Bedford, MA

Description:

The Town of Bedford Archives is looking for a motivated student or recent graduate to perform an internship centered on organizing a large collection pertaining to Bedford’s Conservation Commission. Tasks will include collating, culling, and otherwise processing a collection that has been physically split in half over time. This is an unpaid opportunity.

Duties:

  1. Collating the two sections of the collection, both of which may have duplicate files.
  2. Culling duplicate documents.
  3. Performing routine processing tasks.
  4. Creation of a finding aid done in compliance with current archival standards (DACS).

Qualifications:

  1. Current graduate student or recent graduate in areas of Archives or Library Science.
  2. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  3. Knowledge of archival theory and practice.
  4. Ability to lift large, cumbersome boxes, 40lbs+.

Timeframe:

  1. Start date negotiable.
  2. 16 hrs/wk, preferably in two 8 hour segments with some flexibility.
