The Medical Education and Clinical Engagement Librarian will work with the Office of Medical Education to develop and deliver curricular-aligned instructional content to support the educational programs of the Alpert Medical School, and will build engagement with clinical faculty and medical residents by providing research consultations and partnerships, developing synchronous and asynchronous education/instruction, and creating other relevant programming for the AMS community. In addition, the librarian collaborates with the other health sciences librarians to provide research lifecycle support (including systematic reviews) to faculty and students across the health and biomedical sciences at Brown, and works with the Scientific Data Management Librarian to help retain, preserve, and provide access to Brown University research data and scholarly products.

The Brown University Library is a highly collaborative environment, reflecting the interdisciplinary approach of the University; collaborations with staff across the Library are common and expected. The Librarian works with colleagues from across the Brown University Library to develop programs and services; contributes to strategy for developing relevant collections targeted to support disciplinary and interdisciplinary research across the health sciences; and maintains a high level of professional engagement both with colleagues in other institutions and with the professional literature.

The Brown University Library has developed a robust strategic plan which aligns with Brown University’s plan, Building on Distinction. Our strategic priorities center around Academic Integration, Knowledge Generation, Innovative Practice, and Organizational Investment, with Community Engagement and Diversity and Inclusion horizontally integrated across these pillars. The Medical Education and Clinical Engagement Librarian is a critical position, and will help develop and guide the Library’s operating goals in support of Brown’s mission to support academic and research excellence.
