Librarian – Information Services, Wellesley Free Library, Wellesley, MA (Full time)

Description:

The Wellesley Free Library is seeking a fearless, flexible and fun librarian to join our team. The
technology-savvy and customer service oriented full-time (35 hours/week) Librarian will provide
the highest quality library service. Under the supervision of the Information Services Supervisor,
duties will include providing technology education to adult patrons (including coding and
instruction on the use of electronic media); reference and reader advisory services; materials
selection; and developing/implementing library programs for high school students.


The successful candidate will have instructional experience; strong, positive communication and
interpersonal skills; the ability and willingness to handle multiple responsibilities in a changing
environment; strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills; ability to consistently work
calmly, diplomatically and accurately, even in high pressure situations; ability to adapt quickly
and easily to new procedures and practices in a continually evolving environment and be
conversant with various library, communication, and social media technologies. Work hours will
include weekdays, some evenings, and some weekends.


The starting salary is $28.62 per hour with an excellent benefit package. Requires: MLS; one to
three years of reference experience; knowledge of collection development; demonstrated
knowledge of effective public service techniques; excellent oral and written communication
skills; exemplary customer service skills; excellent computer skills, including familiarity with
computer coding concepts, database searching and software specific to libraries.
