The Wheeler School, a co-ed. N-12 independent day school of approximately 800 students in the College Hill neighborhood of Providence, RI, is seeking a full-time Upper School Librarian to join a library team composed of two Lower School and one Middle School librarian (who serves as department chair). Founded by visionary educator and artist Mary C. Wheeler in 1889, Wheeler is a school committed to challenging academics, a rich performing and visual arts curriculum, and innovation. Our urban campus is supplemented by a 120-acre farm campus, which is the site of seven fields, tennis courts, a field house, and provides many experiential learning opportunities for students of all ages.

Responsibilities:
● Create and maintain an inviting, safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity.
● Foster skills of research, critical thinking, and the ethical use of information.
● Ensure flexible and equitable access to resources that support the student’s academic and personal learning needs.
● Develop and maintain an up-to-date, culturally diverse collection of print and non-print resources appropriate to the curriculum and that reflect student interest.
● Collaborate with faculty members to create an environment that is conducive to active and participatory learning.
Qualifications:
● Three – five years of experience and a Masters of Library Science.
● A deep commitment to the experience of the student and a passion for working with teenagers. ● An interest in innovation.
● A passion for libraries and 21st century learning.
● Strong collaborative skills.
● Knowledge of platforms such as LibGuides, Noodletools, and a variety of research databases.
