Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Upper School Librarian. The individual in this position will be accountable for:

  • Cataloging new materials (original record creation, MARC editing as needed)
  • Serving as the academic liaison to Upper School faculty
  • Coordinating and instructing a required skill building course for ninth grade students
  • Acquiring, inventorying, and troubleshooting circulating technology, as well as coordinating NoodleTools accounts
  • Supervising and participating in reference interviews, circulation and shelving, processing new materials, and on-duty student employees
  • Serving as Upper School educational technologist, leading faculty Educational Technology Facilitators (ETFs) and serving on the Technology Working Group
  • Supervising and coordinating parent volunteers
  • Designing and implementing community outreach programming
  • Other responsibilities as required

Successful candidates will be kind, creative, curious, and detail-oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and instructional skills. They should have a strong work ethic and an ability to effectively work and multi-task in an active school environment. Candidates should have experience teaching information literacy skills and fluency with rapidly changing technologies.  In addition, they must have experience working with young people, excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to work collaboratively and independently, as well as enjoy reading and working with adolescent girls.

Candidates must have an MLIS from an accredited program; one to three years of instructional experience with young people in a public or school library is preferred. Extensive knowledge of Apple products and Google Apps is required. Candidates must be able to remain seated for extended periods of time, as well as lift and move up to 60 lbs.

This is a ten-month, full-time position reporting to the Library Director. It includes evening and weekend hours.
