Archivist, Library Internship/Assistant, Armenian Cultural Foundation, Arlington, MA

Description:

The Armenian Cultural Foundation seeks an intern/assistant specializing in library sciences to assist the curator in cataloging its library collections. The intern will work directly with the curator. The position is part-time and temporary (expected to be about six months). This position is unpaid, however, all costs related to the projects incurred by the intern (e.g. travel, materials) will be covered by the Foundation.

Responsibilities:

  • Retrieving data from various electronic sources and download in the
    Foundation library database software
  • Create barcode, and shelflistings.

Qualifications:
+ Enrollment in or recent completion of a Masters-level program in library science,
archival studies, museum studies or related program 
+ Experience working with library database softwares
+ Flexible nature with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks/activities
simultaneously
+ Strong administrative, detail and follow-up skills
+ Creative problem-solving skills, curiosity and motivation
+ Knowledge of languages other than English not required, but preferable.
