he San Diego State University (SDSU) Library invites applications and nominations for a 12-month, tenure-track position to be appointed at the Senior Assistant or Associate Librarian level (depending on experience), with a start date of July 1, 2021. The Cataloging and Metadata Strategies Librarian will provide expertise and leadership as part of the Content Organization and Management (COM) team to ensure timely, comprehensive, and effective discovery of all library collections, including digital objects, through the Library Service Platform (Alma) and other discovery services. We seek a creative, collaborative, and forward-looking colleague who can complement, strengthen, and expand partnerships across library departments and with colleagues across Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and the Division of Information Technology.

The Cataloging and Metadata Strategies Librarian will provide leadership in developing, evaluating and implementing workflows for loading metadata for ebooks, streaming resources, and other digital objects into our Library Service Platform (Alma). The position will also provide original and complex copy cataloging of various materials across multiple languages, formats and time periods in a contemporary MARC-based environment according to national, consortial, and local standards. In collaboration with COM colleagues, this position will develop, evaluate, and implement cataloging policies and establish priorities for cataloging projects. SDSU Library is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the experiences of diverse students, faculty and staff.  

The position is appointed at the Senior Assistant or Associate Librarian rank. Anticipated salary range: $69,000 – $78,000 (Sr. Assistant) or $79,000 – $84,000 (Associate). This position also offers a generous startup package.
