Part-Time Program Coordinator, Joshua Hyde Public Library, Sturbridge, MA

The Town of Sturbridge is seeking to hire a flexible, friendly, organized, computer-savvy individual to fill this position. Job hours are : Average 10 hours/wk – including weekends and evenings as needed.   Schedule and amount of hours during current limited COVID opening and summer months may vary. Pay starting at $19.11/hour.

Duties may include: 

  • Plans, organizes and implements programs for children, teens and adults with input from the Library Director and library department heads.
  • Serves as the contact person for performers and other event leaders.  Handles contracts, payment, performer’s needs, promotion, room setup, and day of event issues. Introduces and oversees programs in progress as needed.
  • Produces and distributes flyers, press releases, email newsletter, and posts on social media and website in order to promote all events.
  • Liaison to the Friends of the JHPL and works within the Friends annual programming budget; Researches and writes grants to support library programming.
  • Works with the children’s librarian and the Burgess Elementary school to coordinate annual school visits to the library.
  • Coordinates the use of the meeting room for library events and outside organizations by way of an online calendar.
  • Attends all staff meetings and library workshops as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have:

  • Knowledge of all aspects of Microsoft Office, Google docs, email, and social media expertise
  • Ability to design attractive and informative flyers and posters for events using computer software
  • A valid driver’s license in order to attend meetings and other library events
  • Impeccable multi-tasking and organizational skills 
  • Excellent written communication, email & social media, and telephone skills
