As part of the Enterprise Data Platform team, the Knowledge Management Analyst will collaborate with technical and subject-matter experts across the organization to develop and curate Indigo’s core data collection for reporting and analysis. Employing a range of research skills, they will create documentation and design resources that accelerate data discovery and validation, enabling Indigo’s BI analysts, data scientists, and software engineers to advance quickly from ideas to actionable insights.

Responsibilities:

Knowledge Management: 

  • Synthesizes information gathered from stakeholders, data exploration, and research into concise and thorough documentation tailored to a range of data types, business processes, and audiences
  • Partners with data teams and subject-matter experts to develop and maintain a glossary of terms and technical definitions, in order to align the business around a shared understanding of key concepts and datasets
  • Coordinates with data owners across the organization to capture and maintain descriptive metadata for individual datasets
  • Contributes thoughtfully to Enterprise Data Platform team best practices and processes

Data Sourcing:

  • Gathers stakeholder requirements and use cases for new data sources to be added to the data warehouse, prioritizing tasks to meet project deadlines
  • Acts as a liaison and translator between business stakeholders, data platform engineers, and external data providers
  • Collaborates with engineers to develop data quality monitoring and alerting tools

Communication & Support:

  • Contributes content to team release notes and announcements
  • Delivers ad hoc and ongoing data platform user support and instruction

Competencies:

  • Critically assesses and articulates the coverage, meaning, and limitations of a given dataset, or the context and details of a business process
  • Understands and values data quality, data governance, and data licensing practices
  • Manages projects efficiently, proactively communicating roadblocks and recommending pragmatic solutions 
  • Effectively translates technical considerations to business stakeholders, and business requirements to engineers
  • Negotiates timelines and builds consensus among groups with competing priorities
  • Identifies and engages the right stakeholders on a given project

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Library/Information Science or 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience evaluating and documenting information from a wide range of sources
  • Familiarity with data acquisition and licensing processes
  • Basic SQL and/or an aptitude for database tools
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Metadata management and cataloging tools, e.g. Alation, Collibra, Informatica
    • Data warehouses, e.g. Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, and ETL processes
    • BI analytics platforms, e.g. Looker, Tableau, Spotfire
