Archivist, Gallery Night Providence, Providence, RI

Project description:

Gallery Night Providence seeks an experienced archivist for a temporary archival project. The archivist will be responsible for processing materials, conducting interviews, and writing a summary of Gallery Night’s 25 year history. This is a remote project. Physical materials can be delivered. This is a grant-funded position that reports to the Executive Director and Board President.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Specialization in archives management
  • Knowledge of digitization and cataloging systems
  • Interest in art

Duties Include:

  • Manage the compilation and organization of Gallery Night Providence’s physical and digital records
  • Document oral histories from founders and key associates
  • Create a physical and digital collection and process for additions in consultation with project partners and Gallery Night stakeholders
  • Recommend long-term physical and digital access solutions
  • Write a narrative summary with a timeline of highlights

Schedule and Compensation:

Flexible schedule between January through April 2021, approximately 80 hours @ $20/hr = $1,600
