Archivist Internship, Town of Bedford Archives, Bedford, MA

Description:

The Town of Bedford Archives is looking for a motivated student or recent graduate to perform an unpaid internship centered on organizing a large collection pertaining to Bedford’s Conservation Commission. Tasks will include collating, culling, and otherwise processing a collection that has been physically split in half over time.

Duties:

  • Collating the two sections of the collection, both of which may have duplicate files.
  • Culling duplicate documents.
  • Performing routine processing tasks.
  • Creation of a finding aid done in compliance with current archival standards.

Qualifications:

  • Current graduate student or recent graduate in areas of Archives or Library Science.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of archival theory and practice.
  • Ability to lift large, cumbersome boxes, 40lbs+.

Timeframe:

  • Start date is January 11, 2021.
  • 16 hrs/wk, preferably in two 8 hour segments with some flexibility.
