Adult Services Librarian, Gilmanton Year-Round Library (GYRL) Gilmanton, NH

The Librarian is of equal position to the Youth Services Librarian. The employee is responsible for working with the public and other library staff to provide a wide range of services for youths and adults.

Selects materials for the adult collections by reading and evaluating book reviews, listening, and filtering patron’s requests and being aware of popular trends. Catalogues, reshelf and processes books, magazines, and other media. Organizes main collections by shelf reading, creating displays and maintaining signage. Evaluates and implements improvements to main collection. Formulates programs and activities for youth and adults including implementation, promotion, and presentation in accordance with the mission of GYRL. These should reflect the needs and interests of local community. Answers emails and manages status of Facebook page. Maintains GYRLS website to include current programs, contact information, donor information, calendars, all in a visually pleasing way. Assists the GYRLA Board in completing tasks and in any other requested way. Manages volunteers assigned to support GYRL. Prepares a monthly report of adult programs to be given to the GYRLA Board, including updates, status, programs, upcoming events, and any other library concerns. Attends appropriate conferences, meetings, and workshops. Tracks and reports statistics relative to library operations. Manages notifying patrons of overdue materials. Prepares annual report for the state library. Attends to the children’s room when needed. Open and sort the mail. Maintain mail/ donor database in Excel. Communicates any problems or concerns to the Board of Directors. Other tasks that may be deemed
necessary.

This is a 22 hours/ week position, paid bi-weekly. Hours are Tuesday 1-7, Thursday 1-7, Friday 10-4, and Saturday 9-1. Pay is $13- $21, depending on experience.

Adult and Youth Services Librarian shared duties:

  • Greets patrons and assists with specific needs/ inquiries.
  • Assists patrons in selecting appropriate reading, listening, and viewing materials.
  • Manages Inter- Library Loans as well as their pick-ups/ drop offs.
  • Manages and stays current with Covid guidelines.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree and or equivalent education and experience.

Knowledge skills and abilities:

Looking for applicants who are creative, self-motivated, and friendly.
Computer skills and current with social media.
