The Wellesley Free Library is seeking a full time (35 hours) Acquisitions Specialist who is fearless, flexible and fun. Reporting to the Acquisitions and Cataloging Services Supervisor, the Acquisition Specialist is responsible for the organization and management of ordering and receiving books, serials, and non-book materials selected for addition to the Wellesley Free Library’s (WFL) collection. This position works with the Acquisitions and Cataloging Services Supervisor to expend and monitor the collection budget and performs tasks using independent judgment governed by established Departmental policies and procedures. The preferred candidate will be detail oriented, has the ability to work accurately with numbers, communicate, exercise good judgement, and work effectively across all WFL Departments. The hourly pay range is $20.74 – 27.31 in 8 steps.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree or two or more years training beyond high school or equivalent, one year’s related experience working in a library.
  • Ability to consistently work calmly, effectively, accurately, in a tactful and conciliatory manner even in high pressure situations.
  • Ability to adapt to procedures and to new practices in a continually evolving environment, strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills and excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proven proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing and working knowledge of library acquisition software and the ability to work accurately with superior attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Candidates with accounts payable/bookkeeping experience, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) or Sierra acquisitions are preferred and are encouraged to apply.
