Digital Strategies Data Collections Intern, University of Oregon Libraries, Remote

The University of Oregon Libraries’ Digital Strategies Division has a temporary job open for LIS student application – Digital Strategies Data Collections Assistant.

This opportunity runs between the beginning of UO’s winter term 2021 and concludes at the end of its spring term 2021, 150 hours of work per term. The job is also 100% remote and pays $16.00 per hour. We highly encourage BIPOC LIS students and students interested in scholarly communications, research data management, digital scholarship, and digital libraries to apply.

The Digital Strategies Data Collections Assistant will work with Digital Strategies division members to create a data inventory plan for data that resides in Scholars Bank (UO’s institutional repository) and begin implementing it. This plan will include interviewing library subject specialists and the institutional repository manager to get a better sense of the data is used by various areas and disciplines. They will lead in creating a publicly available resource that thematically groups the data, data type, and potential uses for data. The intern will also collaborate with Digital Strategies librarians and staff to test the resource with UO community members through interviews or a focus group.

Additionally, this position will receive coaching and mentorship to support a career in digital scholarship and data services through hands-on experience in digital libraries and digital curation. They will be an equal partner and colleague within the Digital Strategies Division’s decision making by attending department and team meetings and have dedicated one on one time with library professionals and their supervisor to support needed training and their advancement within the library and information science field. And at the end of the internship, the Digital Strategies Data Collections Intern will have a work product to add to their curriculum vitae, resume, and/or professional social media networks.
