Children’s Librarian I, Brookline Public Library, Brookline, MA

The Brookline Public Library is seeking a part-time Children’s Librarian I to perform professional and administrative work providing reference, reader’s advisory, program operation, department administration, and other library services to children, their parents, and teachers. Assist the Supervisor of Children’s Services in providing training and supervision to youth services staff. Assist the public in the use of a wide range of print and non-print library materials, including, but not limited to: video games, gaming systems, makerspace technology, PC, tablet, and laptop support, ROKUS, Wi-Fi hotspots, Launchpads. Brookline Village Main Library. May be asked to work at other locations as needed. Perform similar or related work as required.

Master’s degree from an ALA accredited library school. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to public service essential. Current and thorough IT skills, proficient in multiple social media platforms. One year of library work experience with youth. Knowledge of automated library systems and related applications. Knowledge of standard office procedures, practices,nforms, and equipment. Knowledge of e-readers, e-books, and ability to troubleshoot various technologies. Knowledge of other languages is a plus. Working knowledge of internet, social media trends and strategies.

Starting salary $27.76/hr., up to 18.25 hours per week. Resume and cover letter. Open until Filled.
